The Alongside Wildlife Foundation works to generate a better understanding of how wildlife populations use and persist on landscapes as well as recommendations regarding how we can develop, farm, restore, and live on these landscapes while accommodating wildlife and natural ecological processes. Then, we work to communicate science and conduct public outreach in the hopes of encouraging an appreciation for the wildlife alongside us and the wildlife that may someday return.
After pursuing an academic career in wildlife ecology and conservation biology for many years, the Executive Director realized that it was very difficult to conduct impactful science and outreach within existing professional frameworks, so he created The Alongside Wildlife Foundation to form a new path.
Aldo Leopold said, “There are some who can live without wild things and some who cannot.” The Alongside Wildlife Foundation represents those of us who cannot.
